Whenever someone explains that he educates his children alike and that everyone has treated them in the same way, some interesting questions arise: Have you really done the same with them if the time with each one is not the same? On the other hand, is it positive for children to educate them all equally each being different and unique?

Today we are going to start talking about the first question and it is confirmed one of the suspicions that many parents have which says that the first children are smarter than those who come later statistically speaking that there will always be exceptions.

children are Smart

The older ones have a higher IC

Researchers at the University of Edinburgh analyzed data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth a nationwide survey of pre-birth to 14-year-old children which analyzed family environment and economic conditions. With almost 5,000 children observed every two years studying their abilities and their intelligence they saw that when reading loose words naming objects understanding what they read and playing logic games the firstborns obtained better results having an IQ (CI).

This difference was already observed at one year of life, and was maintained during the first years until entry into school. From that, point on the differences could be smaller, but remained statistically significant.

The time that parents spend with each child

It says a saying that to the first son you wash the pacifier before giving it to him to the second you clean it with your mouth and to the third one you kick it. Obviously, it is an exaggeration of reality but it is true that the former gets attentions that the following receive to a lesser extent or directly receive hardly.

With the eldest parents share a lot of time play together do activities like going to the theater, reading many stories looking for stimulating environments avoid over stimulation of screens, etc. With the second although they continue to do some of these activities they are no longer exclusive to the second but shared and the attention that the little boy receives hardly equals quality nor in hours with which he received the major.

If you add a third child to the equation it is likely that going to the theater happens very rarely that you try to stimulate your cognition to pass into the background and that the three end up more time in front of the television or the tablet of the desirable. Mothers take more risks during pregnancy, are less likely to breastfeed and provide cognitive stimulation of the children in the latter birth.

What is the same: it seems that women lose some of the fear of following certain behaviors during pregnancy tobacco, alcohol, etc. Breastfeed less time to the smallest and worry less about stimulation of the baby if it compares everything with the first child?
